Not medical advice

Everything on Jelly Report — including Soothe the Sting, the jellyfish background pages, and any first-aid steps — is general information for the public. It is not medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and it does not replace a lifeguard, EMT, nurse, or doctor.

If you have trouble breathing, chest pain, severe pain, a large sting area, a sting to the face or throat, or any allergic reaction, call 911 or find the nearest lifeguard immediately.

No warranty on accuracy

Reports are submitted anonymously by members of the public. They are not verified, moderated in real time, or confirmed by Ocean City Beach Patrol, the Town of Ocean City, NOAA, or any other agency.

Reports may be wrong, stale, mistaken, duplicated, or deliberately false. An empty map does not mean the water is clear, and a busy map does not mean the water is dangerous. The site is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind.

You swim at your own risk

Decisions about entering the water are yours alone. Always follow posted beach flags, signage, and lifeguard instructions — those override anything shown here.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operators of this site are not liable for any injury, loss, or damage arising from use of, or reliance on, this site or its data.

User-submitted content

Only submit reports and photos you personally observed and have the right to share. Do not upload photos of identifiable people without their permission, and do not submit harassing, illegal, or off-topic content.

By submitting a report or photo, you grant permission to display it publicly on this site as part of the shared jellyfish record. Reports may be removed at any time for accuracy or abuse reasons.

Privacy

There are no accounts and no logins. We do not collect names, emails, phone numbers, or precise device location. Reports are fully anonymous and contain no free-typed text.

What is stored with a report: the date and time, the street/side you select, the map pin you place, the sighting or sting details, and up to three preset tips chosen from a fixed list. Photo uploads are turned off. All of it is public.

Keeping reports clean

Reports are structured choices only — there is no comment box, no nickname, and no photo upload, so there is nothing for anyone to post that would need moderating. Submissions pass a Cloudflare bot check and are rate limited per device, and moderators can hide any report that looks bogus.

Third-party links and services

Map tiles come from OpenStreetMap contributors, and forecast information links out to NOAA. These third parties have their own terms and privacy policies, and we do not control their content or availability.
